A studio in Islington, for weeks at a time.
Off Caledonian Road, N1. Four minutes' walk to the Overground, about fifteen to King's Cross. It sleeps four, it takes a dog, and it has its own washer and dryer. It is also a basement flat with no lift and no parking, so read the next section before you go any further.

There is no parking of any kind — street bays on Caledonian Road are limited to two hours.

Read this part first
Four things about this flat will rule it out for some people, and we would rather you ruled it out now than three days into a six-week stay.
It is in the basement, underneath a Post Office. There is no lift, so everything you arrive with comes down the stairs. The bathroom ceiling is 6ft 2, which is low enough to matter if you are tall. And there is some noise from the business above during the working day, roughly 10am to 5pm on weekdays.
If none of that is a problem, the rest of the page is the case for it.
- Basement flat, beneath a Post Office
- No lift — stairs down to the door
- Bathroom ceiling height 6ft 2
- Weekday noise from above, around 10am to 5pm
- No parking at all
- A studio, so the sofa bed shares the room with the main bed
Cooking, washing and working
The kitchen is a working one: oven and hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee machine, cookware, crockery and utensils. Oil, salt and pepper are left in the cupboard, which saves the first evening becoming a supermarket trip.
There is a washing machine and a separate tumble dryer inside the flat, with an iron and board. On a stay of several weeks that is the difference between a Sunday at home and a Sunday at a launderette.
The work setup is honest rather than impressive. The dining table seats two and takes a laptop comfortably. There is no desk in this flat. If a proper desk and office chair is the thing you cannot do without, our Forest Gate flat has one and this one does not.
- Oven and hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee machine
- Washer and separate dryer in the flat, plus iron and ironing board
- Wi-Fi throughout — we have no measured speed for this flat, so we are not going to quote one
- Smart TV and smart lighting
- Dining table for two, no desk
The space
A king size bed in the sleeping area and a sofa bed in the living area, so it sleeps four. Being a studio, four means two of you sharing the room with the other two. It suits one or two people well; four is a compromise and we would say so on the phone.
One bathroom, with a full-size bath, an overhead shower and a heated towel rail. Towels and toiletries are provided. This is the room with the 6ft 2 ceiling.
There is a garden, which is unusual for a studio in this part of London. It is shared with the rest of the building, not private to the flat. You may see the property advertised as a garden studio — the garden is shared, and we would rather say it here than let the name imply otherwise.
Dogs, check-in and the rules
Dogs and cats are welcome with prior approval: £100 per pet per stay, up to two dogs or one cat. Of our five homes, this is the one that takes a dog in inner London.
Check-in is self check-in by lockbox from 4pm, after an online ID check. Check-out is 10am. Quiet hours in the building start at 10pm.

What a long stay costs
Guesty calculates any eligible long-stay adjustment from the dates you choose and shows it before payment.
We are not printing a nightly rate on this page. Our own systems currently carry two different starting rates for this studio, and until a director settles which is right we would rather send you to the live price than quote one we have to correct. Put your dates into the booking engine and the figure it returns is the figure.
The main Unity Stays site publishes a £65 cleaning fee per stay for this flat. Treat that as chargeable until your confirmation says otherwise.
If you are booking for someone else, we can invoice rather than take a card at checkout, and extensions are routine — placements run over more often than they don't.

Who it suits
A solo consultant, or a couple, on a stretch of work around King's Cross or the City, arriving by train rather than by car. It is also the only one of our five homes that takes a dog this far into London. It is the wrong choice for a team that needs separate bedrooms, for anyone bringing a vehicle, and for anyone who would struggle with stairs or a 6ft 2 bathroom ceiling — for those, look at Forest Gate, Salford or York instead.
