Practical guide for displaced households

The accommodation brief while home is unavailable.

When a household cannot use its home, the temporary arrangement has to support ordinary life while the work programme moves. A clear brief helps the accommodation provider answer without deciding the insurance claim.

This is an accommodation checklist, not insurance, legal or loss-adjusting advice. Cover, authorisation and reimbursement must be confirmed with the insurer, policyholder or responsible booking party.

Need a real answer?

Send the location, dates and practical requirements. We will point you to a current home or explain what can be sourced.

Send your accommodation brief

A guide is information, not a booking or availability result.

Confirm who can approve

Name the policyholder, insurer, loss adjuster, landlord or other booking contact and identify who can approve the total. Keep accommodation arrangements separate from assumptions about what a policy will reimburse.

Give the preferred contact for date changes, access questions and extensions so the household is not left repeating the same information.

Describe the household's needs

Include people, separate beds, bedrooms, privacy, children, pets, accessibility, equipment, parking and the destination or distance from the original home. State what cannot be compromised.

For longer works, add kitchen, laundry, workspace and school or work travel. The home needs to support the routine for the expected duration.

Review the proposal carefully

Before booking, check the address, sleeping layout, access, parking, total price, required extras and availability for the dates. Confirm any extension process and who is responsible for payment.

Do not treat an accommodation guide as proof of cover or a live property. The confirmed proposal and the insurer's authorisation are separate things.

Questions before you enquire

Can an insurer or loss adjuster make the enquiry?

Yes. We can receive an enquiry from the insurer, adjuster, landlord or household. The responsible party still needs to approve and confirm the booking.

Can you guarantee insurance will pay?

No. Accommodation providers can propose a stay, but cover and reimbursement decisions belong to the insurer or policyholder.

What if the works run over?

Give the review date and ask early about an extension. Any extra nights depend on availability and need confirmation.
