Count people first
Write the number of people travelling and whether everyone needs a separate bed. Do not rely on a generic occupancy number if sofa beds, shared rooms or temporary arrangements are not acceptable.
If the group changes during the stay, give the maximum and the dates each person is present. That can change the suitable property and the total.
Then count bedrooms
Bedrooms are private rooms, not sleeping places. State the number needed and who can share. A group may accept two people sharing a bedroom but still need separate beds; another group may need one room per person.
Mention shift patterns where people sleep at different times. Privacy, quiet and room access can matter as much as the total bed count.
Ask for the layout in writing
Before booking, ask the provider to confirm bedrooms, bed types, who shares, sofa-bed use and whether the whole property is private. Read the actual home page where one exists.
If the stay is sourced, do not accept 'sleeps six' as the only answer. Request the arrangement that was used to assess the brief.
